Community Support for Caregivers
Caregiving for a family member is sometimes a full time responsibility that you often lose track of friends and other relationships which results in your isolation. This isolation is not healthy both for the care receiver and the caregiver because this often muddles the point of view of the caregiver in competently assessing the needs of the care recipient.
Adopting a buddy system is often the best solution to the isolation problem. The support aspect provided by this system allows the care giver to be always in shape and with a good perspective on the type of care he provides for the individual. A friend, a neighbor or another member of the family can serve as a buddy to better provide care.
