Informal caregivers: an overview.

Individuals usually bear in their minds that caregivers are highly paid for the services they render. But this is not the only fact about caregivers. There are also informal/family and illegal caregivers. Informal/family caregivers as defined are the ones who take care of their relatives and do not get anything as a payment. In short, they do it for free. It was projected that “unpaid family caregivers will likely continue to be the largest source of long-term care services in the U.S. and are estimated to reach 37 million caregivers by 2050, an increase of 85% from 2000″ (Source). While illegal caregivers are the ones who are most probably exploited and given lower salaries compared to those who are considered to be formal and legal caregivers, caregivers that are paid and properly documented.
